In this thread alone, a number of people, including some with quite a bit of experience, have used terms inappropriately, defined them incorrectly, and do not have a full understanding of the mechanics behind them.

The big things I imagine I'll be doing differently will revolve around keeping threads going when they still have some life in them (which I like to do anyway), focusing on making new members feel welcome (which I should be doing anyway) and helping keep OBVIOUS inappropriate content off the site (which I try to do by referring abuse to the mods now anyway).As for taking advantage of my "power," I hope my actions speak for themselves, but I'm a big believer in forum moderators being as invisible as possible (in the mod context) and when necessary, being a lot like good judges -- if there's ever a conflict of interest, refer it over to another mod to make judgment calls.

Although as policy I never charge an upfront fee (because I want to have as large a deal flow as possible), I don't outright think an upfront fee is by itself inappropriate.

The issue stems is mixing the usages.

. * pay for incidentals from company funds, anything "ordinary and necessary" (this says if you made $1000 but had $250 of expenses, Uncle Sam only taxes you on $750 profit) * reimburse driving mileage (you can't go overboard and call your call a business vehicle until you've reached a large threshold of usage) * you can use your company's funds to pay your continued educational expenses BEFORE tax (there's a max $, check your state for differences in the law) * fund your IRA (check your state's laws, also) * elect when your tax year begins (if you choose to be taxed as a corporation; this loses other benefits; you'll also need a 2nd owner just to exercise this option)Anyone who dismisses and bemoans an LLC as just a pass-through entity has never stopped to understand its benefits.

Take that list, and pay someone (assuming you don't have the time to do it yourself) and manually look at each property from w/i Realcomp to see if helps you remove or keep that particular property using the info in any old or current listings.You can also run google searches on each property in the list and look to see if there are any clues on the usage of the property which would help you purge/cleanse the list as well.Hope that helps!
