You should make sure there's not something similar in Maine.One project I worked on that did this successfully was in Napa Valley where they turned an mhp on a beautiful property into a hotel destination with rates of $400 night: The Carneros Resort and Spa.

It would be great to save yourself the expenditure and hassle of booking at peak season when you already own an apartment in your favorite holiday destination.

One of the reasons I chose Waikiki is because it’s a year-round destination and the visitors are very international.

Our experience for great occupancy for weekly rentals has been to be in a year round destination (like South Beach FL), but of course you pay top dollar for that. 

He owns a huge chunk of multi family real estate that, for some, is a tourist destination and others it seems to be their home year round.

Add to that all the amusement parks, zoos, ocean, sports teams and venues, shopping, etc. and it's probably one of the top destinations for vacation getaways, as it's a very well rounded draw. 

As someone who is a landlord and a AirBNB host, let me say "Don't freak out" Yes the tenant should have asked if they could run your property as an AirBNB destination, many people are doing just this, your tenant skipped the "Ask first" part.  

Houston has become a financial destination location, coming solely for employment and then eventually migrating back to where they originated from: As long as there are jobs - people will be here.
