I do appreciate the earned income exclusion, but it still rubs me around tax time when all my British, Canadian, and Australian friends give me a hard time about how they pay no tax at all and only the US and Libya (slight exaggeration, but only slight) tax their citizens who live and work fulltime outside the US.

Corporations are (or were) taxed at higher rates for both rental income and capital gains.3) For Canadians, a LLP was better than an LLC because the LLC could attract double taxation.

I used Royal Rose Properties to manage my properties in Detroit because they had a very good reputation on here.  

I would love to start a discussion with fellow Canadian investors as to what is working for them these days, especially in the Ottawa market (where I am mostly interested in).Looking forward to hearing (reading) everyone's input!

and congrats on going there its on many peoples to do listI have Canadian friends that went there yearly and raved about it. 

what happens if the tenant/landlord is a royal pain?

I LOVE BP but feel I would definitely benefit from some Canadian based tools and resources too!
