Because of this most millennials (gags at saying the word, im going with gen Y now) entered a terrible jobs market saddled with debt.

College can saddle you with a lot of debt that you usually cannot shed through bankruptcy. 

Graduating school (maybe) with a kind of degree you don't really want saddled with a bunch of student loan debt for a specialty you're not sure you will even use is a recipe for a mess.   

(For instance if I buy a $500 lien--which I don't mind just to get things to change, can I be saddled with the burden of owning place/fixing it up/etc?)

If I brought I saddle out it would scare them badly as I am sure neither of them will remember what they are.

I would advise you to work with a syndicator or fund manager, where you can own part of the deal and not be saddled with the effort of managing the apartment yourself.Obviously, I am a syndicator, so what I say is somewhat self-serving and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Dustin is right that there are a lot of so-called providers out there who are really looking to saddle out of state investors with an overpriced property and then essentially drop the ball. 

I put both my kids through collage so they would not be saddled with student debt ( one of my proudest moments ) and my daughter is now senior management at intel making 300k a year so it does work for many..
