My thought is that they do not anticipate holding the assets into perpetuity, in fact without saying too much I am fairly certain that is the case.

But, if I were a typical American, unaware of these plans, and unprepared to research them, then the fact of the matter is that I would not INTEND to use the money in a 401(k) to make lifestyle changes.I believe that in my case, the 401(k) has very little relevance, as I plan to achieve indefinitely sustainable financial freedom very early in life, which would likely result in my wealth continuing to expand perpetually.
