Hi does anyone have experience with providing direct STR stays (so not through Airbnb or VRBO) and charging, collecting, and remitting the local Chicago hotel tax?

Hey Aaron, have you considered a commercial mortgage from a local bank like First National or Bangor Savings Bank? 

I am reporting every one of them now as this has gone on for years and is ridiculous that people don't know how to follow the law! 

To be successful as a real estate investor in any form - except maybe purchasing the Vanguard REIT index fund - an investor needs education, knowledge and understanding of real estate principles, real estate law, and real estate finance.

IF you can't find information for your local area from a reliable source (ie government) that you are comfortable following, hire an attorney who does evictions.

Yesterday I went in to the local city clerks office to request a list of properties with code violations.

To find one that works with land trusts, contact local credit unions directly and inquire about their policies.

Going to local meetups is always the first step!
