There aren't a lot of places where high income matches real estate bargains unless you're a high dollar professional like the small town doctor or small town lawyer.

So a doctor walks in the room with you and your child and said “they have  ____ ug/dl blood level of lead, here’s what we can do”.( Hint, it’s not a lot and what is basically effective is incredibly painful for the child. 

Generally speaking, this is exactly how it worked out for us: our rents are always on the top end of the market, we have very little turnover, and our tenants tend to be young professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc.), so we have zero hassles, with very few repairs during/post occupancy.
