@Nicholas B.it's so confusing today about DTIYou have a consumer protection bureau CFPB and Dodd Frank on one side and mortgage origination people on the otherI heard recently about this poor woman who had 20% down and DTI at 45%She had been on her job for 15 years, same house for 10 years, and had open accounts with zero balances, but the credit lines pushed her DTI up, she was not approved for her mortgageIMHO Credit lines are not debtBut whatever Dodd Frank says goes, and the CFPB is the sheriff in town

@Richard C. point taken...though your contract law comparison using Aunt June's musty house and narcotics is a bit of a reach, IMO.I have worked with 4 agents: 1) a woman who persuaded me and my wife to overpay for a house (we were impatient and naive). grade: D- 2) a kind old woman who took a huge hit in commission to help us pay closing costs on the same house when we sold it 4 years later.
