update: I went and looked at the home today and took pictures the roof is in really bad shape the house could use new carpet the kitchen is fairly new with granite counter tops.

I also suggest stopping short of building a full kitchen but rather put in a kitchenette with a counter top convection oven and a 1 or 2 burner cook top.

For example, repairing a broken or unsafe countertop with similar materials may be ok; replacing a formica countertop with granite probably not.As to how often the property may be redeemed, many factors affect that; is there mortgage, are the previous owners alive, etc.
