I have seen tiling underneath the cabinet a few times, but that was when a new cabinet was installed during a complete renovation.Schluter has a flat underlayment that I seen on Holmes on Holmes and is sold at Home Depot. 

KC has clay soil which causes problems when it drys out because it shrinks away from the foundation walls.

So, there were issues that we noticed, like moisture underneath the house.

Stucco is also a maintenance nightmare here in DFW because of our soil shifting.

When buying farm or orchard land for houses, do you have sois tests done to determine pesticide/herbacide or other toxic chemicals, including waste dumps or ponds, or overuse of manures?

Most banks consider a block outer perimeter sufficient with piers underneath.  

Additionally, underneath the basement the wiring was all up-to-date style of wiring.  

The real trouble comes when the ground is not suitable for a new system either because of the lot size or soil conditions.
