If they're able to walk upstairs, they're able to handle your house.I ask this partly because I'm 64 years old, facing 65 real soon (and if I get one more advertisement for Medicare supplementation in the mail I'll throw up) and I'm managing my own two story 3/2.5 house just fine (along with 16 rental properties, including doing the yard work in empty rentals).

Supplementing the mortgage that way. 

Having a good income to supplement your investing can give you a huge advantage.

You first have to do reverse engineer to figure out your future income when you retire and figure out the gap or supplement needed...

@Lillis Hawker, Given your situation of needing rental income to supplement a lower than desired salary, but also needing to obtain a place to live in your new location I think @Mark H.

Even if you don't use what you learned directly you still have the life experience not everyone has and the fortitude that you got it done. follow your dreams and make real estate the supplement or fall back on plan that you incorporate into being successful.

Thanks @April Vogt for the advice, do you mind expounding on what you get and maybe more importantly what you don't get when you use a co-host (Account Closed also mentioned supplementing with a co-host).  

Their is no reason to justify supplementing any tenants rent.Tell your tenant rent is rising to $550 in 60 days (assuming you are in a legal position to do so).
