I am a 4.0 student and have had several CRE related internships and academic experiences-- I've also been an active BiggerPockets listener and reader for a year or so now. 

Throughout my experience in real estate clubs, classes, and internships, one task that I've had to do is underwrite investment deals on Excel.

Should I try to get a internship at a real estate agency?

The summer before my senior year I was looking for a job and unintentionally got my foot in the door for real estate with an internship through my school at a property management company. 

maybe look for an internship or job in the real estate industry (construction, home inspection, RE offices, etc...) 

Some college students sign yearly leases because they still go to school during the summer or participate in local internships, at least at UCF, which is the largest college in the state.

I'm very interested in getting an internship to learn more about real estate and investing.

Done.Find a mentor to help with the process.Doing an internship with someone that is serious about their business, and then making sure that you're just as serious about their business as they are, is an awesome way to gain invaluable experience and support for yourself in the long run.Intern with a flipper.
