I'd wager to say most of us in the REI community really do care about these issues within our communities (affordable housing, etc), but at the end of the day, (most of us) are running businesses - not non-profits.

This could also be a considered a on-site manager unit for which you could pay yourself through the entity a fair market wage (rent) or pay the entity to have on-site leasing office.

I don't have any statistical data on this statement, but I'd wager 80% of people that say they want to be a real estate investor never do their first deal. ( I'm not including people who buy their primary home. ) There's nothing wrong with that, its not for everyone.

If you go on Zillow and look at what's available for rent in Toledo, I would wager that the vast majority of the rentals are in the 700-950 price range and that vast majority of the rentals are within a couple miles of each other.

I'd wager the people buying a house that catch the episode are probably pretty slim.With that said... if the home was well done... then I don't see how that wouldn't have a positive impact, but that comes from a well done home, not HGTV.

BrianBurke at Praxis he is located right there in Santa Rosa and has some nice funds that he professionally manage's and he has ton's of experience and success  I will wager his fund will be much safer and more profitable than you trying to do it yourself out of state.
