I do take personal checks because I live in a town of 2000 people and we have a small branch of a local bank here so if I get a check with insufficient funds which is rare they let me know so everyone avoids all the bounced check fees and I can have the tenant fix the problem.

The following two years we bounced back and forth from doing a high end kitchen and or bath for someone and taking that money and putting it into the next rental.

They don't have to worry about a check getting lost and I rarely have to worry about bounced check.
