Well that depends on the current price, current market, current financing options, and your personal vision.

DIY, but only if you have the vision and know your not dealing with anything structural.

You could end up working for a job, a lot of franchises turn out that way for many people, not intentionally for their part either.Working with a franchise will limit your vision because to a large extent, someone else is making your decisions and/or doing your thinking for you.

I'm tempted as well to invest in the same asset class as you since I love surfing, but not quite ready to pull the trigger yet as I'm not sure what my vision is for such properties.

We also sometimes do 2-3 designs per room to give them multiple vision options. 

I remember him asking me on the phone if I wanted to be a moderator and he shared his vision for his company.

Several of my previous teams fell apart because our vision and values were not aligned.
