Question: without sounding too harsh, why are you even bothered by all of this?

He would have kicked and screamed and shouted that life was unfair and that construction is too expensive and that reality is a harsh mistress.

But to make a general statement saying "it's due to high spending and bacis inability to manage personal finance" is a tad bit harsh.

However, we need to not let the tone of our opposing opinions get too harsh.

I mentioned that to see if they were open to it, and her response was "that's a harsh chemical".

If it breaks I'm sure I'd fix it or get another used one, but if a tenant is unduly harsh and keeps breaking them, then they can buy their own. 

Sorry if I came across as harsh, but I am a believer in, "If we don't police our own, someone else will do it for us."
