@Christopher McGuire As I look into my crystal ball (OK, it's plastic, but it looks good), here's what I see in your future.1 - You sign an agreement for $400/month, and an option agreement for $25,000 to be paid in 5 years, and accept $3000 up front as an option consideration.2 - Over those 5 years, you will have CAPEX that will cost you around $10,000 (I'm assuming a new roof, furnace, HWH, and at least one more larger expense).  

It depends on jow much it is, We have used pex out here in N.Cal for the last 3 years and they still dont let you use it in parts of the bay area, if you are going to do the job yourself then then tool you will need will cost more in $ than all the material and time it would probably take you to do it in copper- I like the pex when used with a mana-block ,meaning each run is a home run, otherwise to me it looks like a drip system.I have never seen either fail,but on one job we were at, the mice were eating through the plastic (they could smell the water I guess.)

The highest efficiency furnaces have direct venting which means the exhaust is a plastic pipe that goes out the side of your house.

You apply the stuff and cover it in plastic wrap.

Try to start moving your units away from any plastic parts on the supply side of your water (other than PEX).

I would rather have that swapped out with plexi from tap plastics or a place like that. 

The duration shingles typically have a plastic nailing strip that is nice for an installer and good for the life of the shingle.

I put the home depot plastic mini-blinds so there is at least something.

Trust me, anything plastic will be your "gold" and for more ugly it can look, you will love it on the long run!
