A test kit invented would be a piece of wood or cardboard left on the side of a structure to sit stagnant with moisture around, and frequent a visual inspection for dirt shelter tubes, termites eat dirt and poop out-spit out to create a sheltered tunnel in which they travel to eat "cellulose" protecting them from humans and sunlight.

Had the inspection done and there is clearly work that needs to be done in the $5-$10K range, incl some work around rotten wood, leaky pipes/faucets, holes in doors/walls, small amt of mold in bathroom, sump pump drain issues, bathroom fans routing into attic causing moisture issues...etc.

There were several issues noted as relates to the roof including staining in the ceiling of one of the closets and moisture noted in the attic....That to me suggests current and past leakage...something that was never disclosed.
