I would expect more pain, as employment growth in TX has ground to a halt, after the Leading Index of economic indicators fell off a cliff..

Go to the county and search for records (those same book/page indexes) for the lot's parcel number.

Whenever I think about how to invest money, I don't compare to a money market, I compare to an S&P index fund, which will average 12% return with zero time or effort on my part, and relatively little risk over the long haul.

I would much rather put some of my cash into whole life than index funds! 

The HELOC we have discussed has the lowest fees and the least amount of paperwork, but usually is adjustable monthly and tied to some index, usually prime.

I've been enjoying this thread for 15 minutes now; between investing in one of Cardone's offerings, or putting cash in an index fund, REIT, CD, investment property, or on black at the roulette table, I'd choose any of the latter over the former.

My advice:  roll the old 401k over to Vanguard and buy the ETF VTI (total market index) and then promptly forget about it until you're old enough to withdraw from the account without penalty.
