Legal to require proof of family status? All minors must be disclosed on application/lease?
23 December 2015 | 5 replies
in my most recent tenant drama, a couple who claimed to be 'husband and wife' and 'childless' turned out to be unmarried, have 3 kids(who were in and out of foster care), along with a whole other slew of mistruths. i'd simply like to know that, given federal (and local) statutes that strictly prohibit discrimination based on family status, is there any recourse in dealing with a situation where a couple presents as husband and wife (and/or as without children) when once approved, they move in and are quite bold about the fact that they actually aren't married and even go as far as to state that nor do ever plan to get married because its 'just a piece of paper'(the latter only with which do i agree) and then nonchalantly march in with an army of undisclosed children they claim are their own?

Trying to Invest in Las Vegas.. Roadblocked my Future Father in Law
16 April 2015 | 10 replies
Hello, My future father in law bought a property in 93 which is an 8-plex in LA for around 300,000He owns his own home currently ( beautiful home)and owns a rental also ( I don't know when he purchased this)He also has a real estate license ( he isn't an active realtor, he is retired and just invest in stocks now)He believe california for the place to purchase property because you can see and feel it.I am trying to convince him that just because its out of state, doesn't mean it can't be successful. He says that unemployment is higher than anywhere else in the USACalifornia and Nevada are both around 6.7-7.1% He says thats because obviously the population is much higher in california so its not comparison He believe with the indian reservations in california, it will turn vegas the unpopular place to gamble and all of the las vegas community is fueled by gambling and entertainment.

First things first...bubble gum, paper clip and a swiss army knife...if you can't MacGyver a solution with that, you're not ready to call yourself a handyman, oops I meant handyperson(aka Jedi Master, ruler of the world, smartest person in the room, boss, etc)Oh yeah, I forgot a twelve pack of your favorite cheap beer.Haha...really, a good Leatherman multi-tool is invaluable and will do most easy work, and can be part of your "everyday carry".$80And then it depends what you will do and what you like to do.
