It is true; actually the market only tanked 10% in the Bay area, but back then the tech sector in SF was considerably smaller than it is today and prices werent that inflated in comparison with other major cities.What makes me (and many) nervous is the parabolic growth of tech tock these past 10 years; when the big dump will come, many companies will have to layoff big time and i can't think how that couldn't affect the RE in the Bay area given the massive speculation and negative cap rates

As well, on a prominent syndicator, on his last deal,  offered Class A and B shares, and I'm not absolutely sure that I can divulge much about it but I will simply say that one is first in line in regard to seniority.I think the main point here, despite this little tangent, is that MF is not insulated from loss like the sector has some kind of magic talisman.

You're basing your future on internet randoms to do the right thing and pay you a few hundred a month for an asset they don't even need (which is a horrible business model by the way - there is a reason that the financial sector hinges on creditworthiness standards.
