Finally, my big concern was always defaults and income loss...if I have more than 6 defaults (which I am sure I will), or more importantly, I lose my income...I do not want to be stuck with a high-interest LOC (hence why I started with $5,500 and not 10k).

If you get in and get out with lets say, land, or new construction, or flips or something where your money is deployed in a much shorter duration.. you will still be subject to the whims of the market place but because the duration your funds are deployed and because you arent concerning yourself with tenants theoretically there is 'less risk'.
