You could form a Joint Venture Specific LLC and have a good real estate attorney draft an iron-clad Operating Agreement to minimize your risks, limit liability, and protect your personal assets all at once.

Cast iron piping is an expensive repair or replacement too.Retrofitting old windows and HVAC are more costly too.I would recommend hiring an experienced property inspector who is familiar with older homes.

The townhouse I own is in a beautiful newer gated community in a great location with great pool, spa, picnic/bbq area, and $140 per month dues which I think is totally reasonable.
