The age of the home does not matter.

I do not want to spend 20k to replace roof if current old roof still has more years of age left.

A lot of homes that age have W/D in the garage, so if it's inside the home, that's a plus. 

Aged, cobwebs throughout.

I am of an age that I don’t want to fight those unnecessary battles when the problems arise.

Anyone having issues with their insurance company not wanting to insure properties over a certain age?

I don't want to go into details on a public forum, but the house is worth very little and at their age/state of health, they will really need the full amount from their house. 

The challenges stem from cautious equity investment and local opposition to these developments, which are believed to attract large families with school-age children.

A provision in the IRS code known as 72T allows one to receive distributions prior to age 59 1/2.
