My X in 3 years went in for a door squeak. you only change wiper fluid when needed  wiper blades and brake fluid every 25k miles.. so unless you hit something so far mine have been bullet proof .. now to be fair I have only owned them for 3.5 years and I always buy cars new drive them until I am bored with them and get another new one.. so like my model S I sold that last month ( for a price far better than any other used car vis a vi depreciation) and picking up a new X today ..

I had it in my lease agreement "That  a tenant shall not park their vehicle(s) on the lawn or any other place on the property not designated as a parking area, or their vehicle will be towed at their expense"  and then saw they had a vehicle parked on the lawn or other area when I did a drive by, I'd take out my bright pink "Parking Violation" Sticker, stick it on the window of the car (under the windshield wiper) letting them know that they had 24 hours to remove the vehicle or the car will be towed.

It's like having a blown head gasket in your car's engine, then arguing that fixing the hub caps, and NOT the evil windshield wipers, is the best approach to get the head gasket fixed so the engine runs.

The hatchback makes it much more practical than many other small cars, the supercharged engine is fun and thrifty, the transmission instantly responsive, it has nice rear drive handling, and features such as rain-sensing wipers.

I can schedule the charge.. full tank 3 bucks. you can buy a used one of those that are grandfathered into the free super chargers.. plus no oil no tune ups.. the only thing you will spend money on is tires and windshield wiper fluid. and they are hands down safest car on the road in a collision.. plus they self drive ( at least mine do)  so that's very safe as well.I say spend the dough to protect the kids get a second job if you need more income.. especially a fire fighter.. all you guys have two jobs.
