BP is a growing company with a lot of different viewpoints, so maybe it's not even on his radar.

@Arn CenedellaI agree with your viewpoint on the importance of gaining practical experience before handling larger deals and other people's capital.

If the house can actually be sold for the $2 million quoted, then I believe the best outcome from a FINANCIAL viewpoint is to sell the property for the $2 million, pay the spouse $550k, pay the $270k mortgage balance, leaving the wife with $1,180,000 cash.  

That said I will pray for you that you make it through this incredibly hard time you are having now that you *GASP* read an opposing viewpoint. 

Do your own due diligence and don't take my viewpoint for your own investment strategy.  

(OR in another view point, real estate values stayed the same, and the dollar keeps losing value). 

@Katie Miller is it better to purchase "Real Estate Rookie" instead of "Rental Property Investing"  Or both to learn from different view points?

I am really interested in getting some insight from someone who has been investing in the area for a few years to get a better idea of there viewpoint on the country and area they are invested in.
