Lawyers, police, emotional stress, your name associated with a shooting, stigma on your building, opportunity cost by being distracted, possible jail time... none of that is good for business.

Plus, democracy has a way of showing its warts, whereas dictators jail and kill the people who try to expose them, which makes them fester more. 

He is in jail with a $750,000 bail amount so he will stay there.

Many tax laws are open to interpretation and even an incorrect application abuse of the law is probably not getting anyone thrown in jail especially when they will eventually pay their taxes on the money.
