I notice a family heirloom sitting on a table and I really like it (even if it's not worth much).

If it's "heirloom" corn and it's grown organically, it's worth even more. 

Note that everything is fair game if you leave it accessible - Fine china, memorabilia,  heirlooms, even your favorite ice cream or personal hygiene items (your shampoos, hair products, brushes, etc are fair game if they are not locked away in the house, Replace them and hide away the stuff you wouldn't want to be used by someone else or broken.7.Make sure you have somewhere to go on short notice and for days at a time.

He had a really nice display with heirloom quilts and an antique sewing machine and it had a real "home" feel to it.

You don't want to be replacing your family heirlooms just to save some money now (think of the insurance premiums too!).

I am the executer of her estate so I am trying to get this resolved so I can disburse any money in her bank account and her family heirlooms to her grandchildren.

I always put my precious family heirlooms right near a demolition site or where I know there’s construction projects being done .

Plus...you don't want to deal with someone moving their King Size bed into a room that should not have a King size bed, but they move it in because it's a "family heirloom".....and scratching your walls in the process.
