That's great that he travels so much but ask him to provide where he rented and where he slept during that time. 

I despise units that are older where sound travels easily or also units that have either more units above and below.

We're now up to $1,900/mo and the current tenant wanted to sign a full year lease so it's a furnished long term rental for the moment.

We are from there originally and travel to the area to see family and the explosion of the number of people traveling to the Hocking Hills has made it the 3rd most visited place in the state of Ohio behind Cedar Point, Kings Island.

Or turning your current residence into a rental and buying another primary and living in it until you can rent it to cash flow. 

That might even be enough to make it hard to be hired by a traveling nurse agency.BTW, I am not a lawyer that can give legal advice.

Furnished mid-term rentals can definitely pull in higher rents, particularly with traveling nurses, corporate tenants, or relocators.
