What I really think that happens is a lot of people give off a false front of "I love it" to self-justify that they made a wise investment, use "love it" to justify leaving their 9-5, etc.

This is false, and I recommended people not live above their means by purchasing a trophy house, and instead live below their means and re-INVEST the rest into....drumroll............... real estate; rehabbing, flips, rentals, multi-family, etc.!
