Prior to doing so, I met with my lawyer and CPA about forming one, and they ALL agreed an LLC was the way to go for me, and said I'd be wasting money having them do it and to use LegalZoom instead for the first one and use it as a template for any subsequent LLC's I want to form (for rentals).

You can then assume a 3% to 5% annual increase in the assessed value for subsequent years + 1% increase in the mileage rate.Keep also in mind that there is a 4% discount if you pay the bill by Nov, 3% by December and so on

Therefore if you repatriate earnings in a subsequent year you do not benefit from the foreign tax credit and pay full tax at the Canadian rate with no offset on what was already paid in the US.

It is hard to know whether subsequent recessions will behave like past recessions, but I can say with a lot of confidence that STRs are not recession resistant (even in drive to locations) and in my market they were more impacted by the GR than LTRs (which had very little impact in my market due to so much housing sitting empty - rents stayed the same and vacancy rates did not increase in the San Diego market).
