What you're doing is called speculating (aka gambling) not investing...Unless this is a lakefront/beachfront property or has something amazing going for it - it makes a bad investment (just like 95% of houses out there)

I live in it on the first floor and have the third floor rented on a short-term lease from when I was on work assignments in Belgium and the UK to offset the costs of a mortgage and rent. 

Its honestly a gamble as to which will have better appreciation.Do you prefer more rural or more urban? 

I am probably guilty of near reckless gambles in my life, so I hope you come through this to see some profitability.  

I recognize my gamble being that more rentals or single family homes are built than exists a need for.

Ask all the UK citizens who bought in Spain and are now no longer EU citizens.

Entire industries like airlines, tourism, conventions, entertainment venues, gambling, theme parks, cruise ships, movie theaters and more will take months or years to recover.

There are some deals there but these days not as many, and it's more of an advanced strategy and generally a gamble even so, very hit-or-miss and you will be bidding against 100-200+ other investors, 75% who are experienced and knowledgeable, 25% who are newbies and liable to overpay.
