Maybe someone changes cast iron over to PVC, but I doubt it if it is working fine.

@Jeremy Szymankowski  you will even see tubs from the 70's and cast iron tubs still in houses that don't have this non-slip coating.

I want to be able to strike when the iron is hot, so having that option does work so much better!

But my 40 year old property has cast iron sewer pipes that have all rusted out and I now I have to spend $3K to replace them.

I know the marketing person for Recasa is on BP, and following this thread, so perhaps she can iron out these wrinkles for me.

If you only want to be in the area for another 18 months or so, that would give you time to learn a bit about landlording and iron all the kinks out before you moved on and filled the other unit with another tenant. 

(This was an old house which originally had a septic field—this pipe was cast iron and was larger than any I had at any other house—I recall it was ~8 inches in diameter).
