Hey Mitch, that would make a great loan index too!

What will my returns look like as compared to having invested the same amount in an S&P index fund with negligible fees?

I've done these loans on 401k, Vanguard Mutual Fund accounts, Indexed Whole Life Insurance policies, etc. 

I am looking for friendly advice as I (and we) begin this process.I have educated myself in other areas of personal finance (tax efficient index fund investment, retirement accounts, etc), and would be happy to pass on whatever knowledge I have to someone who wanted advice on that aspect of investing as well!

Part of me just wants to chuck all my money in an index fund.

I use a website like areavibes.com to look at the indexes of a certain area (e.g. cost of living, education level, crime, etc) not always accurate but does give you an idea.

Warren Buffet advocates indexing to the individual investor.

Especially in this far too over inflated pricing index.
