The color difference was not subtle, I've attached some images for reference (links below) -- it was like this through the entire house, total of 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a hallway.

They fight with their neighbors over silly things, like subtle variations in paint color. 

I'm personally a fan of a more subtle increase.

We've had people try to copy or emulate our websites at Carrot and they don't perform as well because they often miss subtle elements that we've tested and found increase conversions. 3.

The more you go through, the more you'll notice any aberrations (weird layouts are another subtle gotcha for newer folks, easy to overlook in the shuffle but comes back to bite you later when you go to sell or rent).
