I'm under contract on a small farm near my home in SC and I don't want to lose it because I can't sell for a year.

From what I have read so farm, it might be worth it.

I always recommend State Farm, as their standard homeowner policy will cover your additional rental unit automatically. 

We have an opportunity to buy-out one of the partners in our family farm.

I know in Pittsburgh there is some farm land that is rented to farms but the cost is so minimal that the only thing I would assume that this would be for would be for appreciation.

I have been with state farm for a few years now for commercial and for personal use.

primary residence, a farm, my life savings and stocks --- there's alot of exposure. :')I'm curious if people do LLC and pay a higher interest rate, or do personal ownership and buy an ~$1MM umbrella policy to help protect.

I paid approx $100 mo for insurance on my STRs, both insured through State Farm.

I've had good luck lately with State Farm, Farmers, American Family, Allstate, USAA and California Casualty up in the mountains/ close-in mountains.
