- regional / drivable destination (I've personally rented out a bunch of Airbnbs here)- already established STR laws (while very strict, they have shown to grandfather in permits and haven't proposed a flat out ban that would also retroactively take away permits)- Fredericksburg also fights new hotels just as hard as STRs.

Or else reduce enough on price to deal with an eviction from an illegal unit.I don't know Chicago laws, but in NYC if you have an illegal unit, the tenant occupying it seems to have more rights than the owner does and doesn't have to pay rent...

It is just laughable when places have regulations like a homeowner can only have a certain number of STR listings by the law but these big name companies suddenly start with 20 units in the first month.
