I had boxes of 6" in tan for the pattern, but the contractor saw the boxes of slate color I had for the backsplash and assumed I wanted it this way!

I would second those posts.The length of time definitely depends on the type/quality of carpet you're putting in.In a couple of my earlier rentals, I was going with the standard tan contractor grade carpet.

And seeing as how we use the same tan paint in every house we do, it typically does.Outside of the make ready stuff, the rest is something I don't see a need to give up.
