You are hopelessly confused between trying to buy the asset versus trying to buy equity at a discount.Banks and other secured lenders can do whatever is legal, within their charter and what they believe to be in their stockholders', servicing clients' managers' best interest.Lenders gave no moral or contractual obligation to protect the borrower's property.

I have explored creating a non-profit to assist with tax abatements and consumption of grants but found that I would have to convene a board of directors composed of 3 members and not stand to gain personal profits.

But really, if I hadn't been learning about real estate, talking about real estate, and saving up to buy real estate, there wouldn't have been a deal.The moral of the story: Let people know that you're looking for a deal.
