House is in pretty good shape, some paint is peeling and slightly outdated. 

One start is to do a Google Map search of the properties you're considering (Google map is sometimes outdated from 2019).

Not every flip or rehab requires you to bring the whole building up to any new codes .. like if you buy a house that just needs paint and carpet to resell it .. then you dont have to pull permits for that scope of work so the inspector will nit be out to the house and start telling you that you have to upgrade this or that .. but lets say you replace the hot water heater and you need to pull a permit so you apply for a permit and when you have the inspector out to check to see if it was installed properly he might see that the wiring is outdated and he will not only nit sign off on the permit but then he will require you to update what he sees that needs to be..

The heating would seriously hurt cash flow , possibly turning it negative during winter months, being oil driven, inefficient, and heating a space with outdated windows.

That post of mine you referenced is many years old and those docs I was offering are also old and outdated.

I had one, its about a year outdated now however.
