The renters/buyers there aren't commuting to Seattle (not many at least but I do know one) but between Boeing, the Navy port and the Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor there are plenty of people commuting from the Mount Vernon daily.

He and I are both members of the Trust Vets business network (we're both Navy veterans).  

@french broad - we're involved with the Port City REIA, but haven't heard of any other groups in the area.

I still own my very first primary residence as a rental on a VA loan (I'm ex-Navy and I lived there 4 years).

I thought ,Perhaps since it is across the street from Bicentennial which have town houses that use to be for Cecil Field Navy housing, perhaps we could convince them the change is worth it to build a few apartments there, with the large amount of sudden growth coming to the area.  

Our goal is early retirement in 15 years when my husband retires from the Navy. 

My husband is active duty Navy We specialize in buy and hold investments :) We got started through  at 23 and 25 right out of my graduate program. 

Like anything, make sure you have a good lawyer that can navigate both the French system and the American.
