It may sound nice to pay a 5% management fee but the extra fees can add up to be more than the other company that charges 10% with no add-on fees.

I'll just add on a couple1) Christopher is correct - you will be required to include the rental income into your US tax return.If you are paid in a currency other than US dollars - you will need to convert the rental income/expenses into US dollars.2) if you hold the rental property in a corporation/partnership.

We were one of the early adopters to STR (in 1999, long before AirBnB) which was our value add on that purchase.

You could focus on rehabbing one unit, get it rented, then rehab the next unit for you to move in to, then rehab or add on additional units/ ADU's/ etc.Good luck to you in your venture!

However, Owning stock in companies that are run by amazing CEOs such as Apple, J&J,MO,KO, DIS,O is in my opinion a great way to build wealth as well.
