I used to have VA issues with the Indian companies but the VAs in the Phillipines I have used don't even have an accent and because they work different hours because of time zones when it's really quiet they rarely get interrupted like "dog barking, kids sick or need to be dropped off in AM and in afternoon."

Central America locations are great because of similar time zone to US vs other overseas locations, and can be more affordable than common US vacation locations.If you can find 2 locations with opposite high/low seasons, you can move from one to the other along with the seasons!

If I can manage my rentals on the other side of the world, with crappy internet, in a backward timezone, then you can manage your rentals on the opposite coast.

If not I would look for a market where the strategy you want to use is more likely to work, and even if out of state investing its likely easier to stay on the west coast (same time zones, easier to travel there if needed, etc).
