Look for someone whose posts resonate with you and then strike up a conversation with them through PM or other means to get a better feel for whether or not you would like to work with them (and they will likely be evaluating you, too). 

It all depends on what the company is, the strike price, and the vesting schedule.

It also strikes me as odd due to the frequency of investors citing that they don't want to get hands on with their properties because they state their time would be better spent finding deals, but then they go on trips all the time.

As long as your in the position to capitalize, this can be the striking point.

If it's not allowed, you can strike off that amount of rent from your equation. 

This is quite a coincidence but I recently entered into a strikingly similar deal. 

Standard option consideration is more like 3% of the purchase/strike price.
