But, as I mentioned in my intro and my bio, I am fully engaged in my work as an emergency position and still really enjoy what I do.

I would engage either a closing attorney or land use attorney ASAP.

Once you get out and find your local REIA or meetup, you will build confidence on top of the information downloads because people just like you will already be doing what you want to do.

Most of my investments were stable and long term so I felt confident taking the risk.

That you knowingly, willingly and wantingly engaged in the venture knowing the rules of who can/cannot participate, knowing your disqualification, disregarded and engaged in it anyways. 

Though I have not started any deals yet, I have confidence I have never had before to do real estate transactions because I know if I get in a situation that I need help I have people that I can ask directly and work with directly to help me through unusual situations.
