I would be cautious of improving a real estate asset while the divorce is being finished, unless you can have your lawyer talk to your "soon to be ex's" lawyer, and place this asset, even though you don't own it yet, outside the bounds of the marriage assets.

Completely agreed...Except for the dating and marriage proposals -- I still prefer to receive those privately...

My answer to both of them was I am a landlord not a marriage counselor, I suggest you both work this out calmly and I am looking into who has what rights.
