The home has a broken seal, the original wood floor has started to buckle, and there is asbestos siding on part of the home.Just wondering what would be a starting point here, our plan is to get it inspected but other than that we are lacking experience/direction.

Sadly, the minimum "code" requirements for insulation (R23 walls / R50- R70 attic) are inadequate and if building new in northern BC (or northern anywhere), I'd be looking at a minimum insulation load of R50+ (walls) and R100 (ceiling/roof) along with second to none air sealing and mechanical ventilation (HRV).

Sounds easy to fix, just go find the air leaks and seal them, but not so easy since a small 1/8” gap that runs 2’ along a truss is enough to cause this problem and some areas are not accessible.
