Is it not perfectly normal and accepted practice to give preferential treatment to veterans in basically every other area, such as employment (veteran job fairs, "veteran preferred" business arrangements) and credit (mortgages to people with shoddy credit that wouldn't be able to get a mortgage if not for VA Loan) and banking (USAA / Navy Federal Credit Union / etc)?
