In my case we are running our low income rentals as a business, offering better properties and response than a slumlord, and working a little both with long standing tenants fallen on hard times, but staying objective,  In the same neighborhood I have launched an adopt-a-block program where churches and other groups can adopt one block to do projects and get involved in lives.

I think some discount is good to help launch it, but don't undercut yourself too much - I think $1500/wk when it's really worth $2500/wk is too much of a discount.

I was stationed at Eglin in the early 90's left for Sheppard AFB (Wichita Falls) bought a house in the area (still have it and the equity launched my second in in the area).I moved back in 1998 and lived in Crestview for 3 years we left in 2001 (with a stop in Panama City and Warner Robins GA) I moved back to California in 2005.I am going back to the area,  however, to get a feel for the vacation rentals available.
