It's likely a scam anytime they sound like AI or the grammar is weird or they use the word "kindly", if they ask for you to respond to them off-platform, if they say their employer will pay for it, if they ask if the dates they've specified are still open (when they can clearly see they are open on your calendar), if they ask for a video of your property (they probably want to set up a duplicate listing with your photos and video and scam others out of money), or if they want a long term booking and they have just joined the platform and have no reviews (could have been evicted from somewhere else, and hope a newbie will let them in with no background check, they'll end up not paying or credit card is bad).  

Steven, i know this is an old thread but I hope you are still monitoring and will reply.I hold 11 rental properties in my own name but to reduce liability risk am thinking of placing them into LLCs. 

If this were my property, I’d run a detailed rental analysis (from what I’ve read in Forbes) to see if the short term route could outpace traditional leasing.

I've considered areas close to the Falls, but sellers seem to price it a lot higher assuming the buyer can make it up renting it short term. 

. - Are most of your loans short-term/interest-only, or are they more complex (e.g., longer-term, amortized, require escrow, commonly modified b/c of prepayments, etc.)? 

I think the short term effect on rents is virtually zero - illegal immigrants usually live multiple numbers to a home, rather than everyone having their own space like Americans - but longer term there may be some softness at the bottom levels of rentals. i would be more concerned about the lower economic job market than I would be about rental housing.
